The purpose and benefit of the D’Amore Engineering / SMD Distortion Detector.
The purpose of this tool is to enable the installer to set the gain of an audio amplifier to match the source unit’s output level, accurately and quickly. It can also be useful for detecting distortion in the audio signal caused by poorly designed or malfunctioning audio equipment.

Most modern car audio amplifiers have a built in crossover on the side. Usually, it will start at 30hz and have a huge gap, all the way up to (sometimes) 500hz. The purpose of this tool is to enable the installer to set the crossover frequency of an electronic crossover to the desired frequency, accurately and quickly. Enter "Competition Mode" and easily match gains on any 4-channel amplifier or even multiple bass amplifiers. This is VERY important when using subwoofers that share a common chamber, especially if you have 2 (or more) amplifiers on a dual voice coil driver.

Takes the guess out
Happy with the purchase…I’ve used the do-1 to set my gain on sub channel and the cc-1 to set the subsonic and low pass on the sub channel and I’m happy with the outcome. I believe these devices helped me to fine tune my setup better than I could without them. All car audio enthusiasts should have these

SMD tools
I purchased the DD-1 and the CC-1 to use for myself at home for several projects. I used both on a current build I’m working on and they take all the guess work out of tuning equipment… I’m not clipping and my frequencies are spot on!!

Awesome product
These are great tools to have to set up your amplifiers correctly. I orginally thought I had my amplifiers set up correctly but come to find out I was way off. My system sounds so much better now.

Very easy to use. Much simpler than doing the same with a scope-meter. Was able to easily get crossover and gains set in a few minutes.
